Reimagine the City

We’re running one of the Imagination Stations in this event in Norwich.

This lively workshop – or creative assembly – led by artists invites people from across the social, environmental and cultural sectors to generate ideas for how we can learn, work, eat and be well in the future. Bringing the key principle of Doughnut Economics – building a social foundation for everyone in ways that don’t harm the environment – there will be five imagination stations each led by a local artist or creative organisation. Participants can rotate around them to reimagine…

  • How we can learn and develop capacities for resilience when younger people are anxious about the future of the planet (Climate Museum UK)
  • How we can create opportunities for work and revive our high streets when environmental conditions and inequalities affect the economy
  • How we can source, produce and consume food, with rising food insecurity (Edible East with Sustainable Food Norwich)
  • How we can we rethink our relationship with stuff? (Wastesmiths)
  • What is the future role of the arts for change, and what do we want to express? (Share Your Story Through Art, SYSTA)

We will pool all your ideas into a Doughnut portrait of Norwich in the future.

This is a collaboration between Culture Declares East with the new Norwich Doughnut Group.

Generously hosted by Norwich Theatre Stage Two (in Studio One, which is an accessible venue)
This is one of several assemblies around the UK celebrating Culture Declares’ 5 years of existence.
Free of charge thanks to the Gulbenkian Foundation and Norwich Theatre’s generous hosting. It is in Stage Two behind the main theatre.
